Medicare Part A
Hospital Coverage
Medicare Part A is mainly your hospital insurance. This is the part of Medicare that helps cover you when you are admitted into a hospital or medical facility.
Part A generally helps cover:
- Hospital stays
- Skilled nursing facility care
- Hospice care
- Some home health care
Medicare Part B
Doctor and Medical Coverage
Medicare Part B is your doctor and medical insurance. While Part A covers the hospital side, Part B covers the doctor and outpatient side.
Part B generally helps cover:
- Doctor visits
- Specialists
- Lab work
- Blood tests
- Preventive services
- X-rays
- Durable medical equipment
- Physical therapy
- Outpatient procedures
Together, Part A + Part B only = Original Medicare

Medicare Part C
Medicare Advantage
These plans are required to cover everything Original Medicare covers, but many plans also include extra benefits that Original Medicare does not provide. Depending on the plan and county, benefits may include:
- Prescription drugs
- Dental coverage
- Vision exams and glasses
- Hearing aids
- Gym memberships
- Transportation to medical appoinmnets
- Over – the – counter allowances
- Grocery or healthy food cards
- Telehealth services

Part D helps cover your medications. Without drug coverage, medications can become extremely expensive. Even common prescriptions can cost hundreds of dollars per month without insurance. This is the portion of Medicare that helps pay for:
